[Tip] Oatmeal Treatments for Dry Skin
Tuesday, 24 January 2012 at 23:46

Firstly, I have to say that I've seen this from beauty gurus such as Bubzbeauty and Beautifymeeh, and I did not steal this off of them. I actually have eczema, which means I also have really dry skin. Oatmeal treatments were suggested by a dermatologist when I younger, and I've recently picked up the routine again, so I thought sharing this with you guys might be a good idea for everyone else who has dry skin.

So there are three kind of oatmeal treatments I use. Two of the ideas which came from Bubz herself. These two are washing my face with oats in the morning and her oatmeal masks. You can watch her video on oatmeal below.

Another thing I do - that she mentions, is oatmeal baths, and I've taken many when I was younger. These days I don't take many oatmeal baths, but I do use oatmeal in the shower. To do this, you'll need:

  1. An old pantyhose or stocking
  2. Oatmeal. Quick or rolled, both work fine.

And with this, all you really do is grab a handful and a half of oats, place it into the stocking, tie it at the end and shower with it. Run it under the water for a few seconds, and rub it onto your skin. Don't worry if the oats turn soft and mushy, and if the oils leak from the stocking - that's meant to happen. As Bubz said, oats relieve your skin of irritation, redness and it re-hydrates it, and also has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It's also a healthier option for your skin because it's a natural product. My skin is sensitive to quite a few things, like body wash, so I use a lot of natural things instead - even for hair dye. I even recently changed to Pantene's natural shampoo and conditioner because of my skin. With the mask, I use it once a week. Like Bubz, I also prefer to use yoghurt (before you point out my spelling, remember that I hail from Australia. We use British English) instead of milk. Sometimes, I add honey to the mask, and this is only because honey is said to attract and retains moisture within the skin, reducing redness and keeping your skin hydrated. I think the oats are optional for the mask, because even without the oats, the mask still leaves behind a pretty satisfying result. Don't forget to moisturize after you wash your face or use the mask! That tip from Bubz has definitely helped me. Another tip that I grew up with, is that after bathing with the oats, remember to tap your skin dry and not rub it dry. This ensures that the moisture stays within your skin, and you don't rub it all out. That's all I have to say on the subject! I hope some people find this effective, because I feel so much better after picking up this treatment again. Source: Natural Remedies to Reduce Redness of Face, Bubzbeauty

Ohmaigosh! I tried that and it works 100% but the bad thing is that I almost destroyed the sink (my dad got mad at me kekeke!). Bubzbeauty is the best and she has the best accent ever ^^
